Frits Reynaert commenced his study of carillon at the Dutch Carillon School in Amersfoort in 1977.
After 2 successful auditions, he was appointed city-carillonneur of Enkhuizen in 1980 and city-carillonneur of Almere in 1981. Since 1991 he also is city-carillonneur of Hoorn.
In this municipal position he performs the regular weekly recitals and has the musical-technical supervision over these carillons and is advisor/coordinator of the summer series of carillon concerts.
After 35 years of service, he completed his career in Almere in 2016.
In addition Reynaert works as city-carillonneur of Edam and Dronten.
Since 1980 he plays also the Hemony carillon of the Royal Palace in Amsterdam.
He consecutively studied organ at the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam and carillon at the Dutch Carillon School in Amersfoort, where he obtained his final diploma in performing on carillon in 1985.
In the summer season he regularly plays concerts in various European countries. Since 1988 he made 9 concert tours to Canada and the U.S.A. and performed several times at the prestigious International Carillon Festival in Springfield, Illinois.
Frits Reynaert advises Municipalities and Carillon committees about policy on carillon culture and restorations.
From 1994 till 2008 he was active in the Committee for Professional Interests of the Dutch Carillon Association (NKV), from 2002 as chairman. From 2009 till 2016 Reynaert was a member of the board of the Dutch Carillon Association (NKV); from June 2009 till 2012 as the vice-president. He was in particular engaged with updating and advising on conservation of carillon-culture as Intangible Cultural Heritage and Professional Interests in a broad sense.
